Brevard Counseling traditionally utilizes In-Person (IP) counseling services, however with the recent events around COVID-19, we have increased our services to include both In-Person and Telehealth (Video) counseling to allow our clients more flexibility.
In-Person (IP) Counseling:
We continue to see clients in the office and use extreme safety precautions with our clients and staff. Prior to your session, you will be asked a set of questions regarding social distancing and possible exposure. We limit the amount of clients in our waiting area during busy times and encourage clients to either wait in their car or take a walk around our scenic backyard where you will see fish, birds, turtles, and possibly dolphins! Prior to entering your session, ALL clients and staff wash their hands and masks are provided if clients would like them worn (by client and/or counselor) during your session. After each night, the office, counters, and door handles are cleaned.
Telehealth (Video) Counseling:
During COVID-19, our clients are given the option of telehealth (video) counseling if they feel they do not want to come into the office for traditional IP counseling or if they have had possible exposure to COVID-19 or are feeling ill prior to their appointment. Please note, it is our preference to facilitate IP counseling and we feel this is most effective method for delivering counseling services and especially Play Therapy, however we are happy to offer telehealth (video) if it is determined this is the best option for our clients and your counselor.
Brevard Counseling subscribes and pays for an upgraded version of a platform called Doxey.me
It is very important to know that this platform is a HIPAA Compliant platform in order to maintain our client(s) confidentiality and privacy. Platforms such as Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, etc. are not all HIPAA compliant.
Training in Telehealth Counseling is very important when utilizing this modality. The state does not require counselors at this time to have any training in telehealth HOWEVER Brevard Counseling has always believed that specialization and professional development is an important part of what WE do, therefore it is our policy that every counselor at Brevard Counseling who offers telehealth to their clients has had a training in telehealth.
How does it work?
If you are interested in Telehealth (Video) Counseling with your current counselor at Brevard Counseling or if you are a new client, please notify the office and you will be sent a link with your appointment time and link to our virtual waiting room. If you are new client, an initial phone intake must be completed prior to your session. If it is your first appointment, we will send you intake paperwork and your will return your intake paperwork and consents for services by uploading your documents directly through the secure platform and it will be delivered to your counselor at that time. During your appointment, you and your counselor can exchange confidential documents during your session through the platform. Prior to your session, you will receive an invoice and payment is expected before you begin your session.
It is very important to us that we ensure privacy and confidentiality therefor we have spent a lot of time researching the best options of delivering effective counseling services to you while ensuring privacy during this difficult time. Please note that during your Telehealth (Video) session, your counselor will be delivering services in our office setting. This is done in a separate counseling office which is in our office and is secure and confidential (away from noise and distraction-just like if you were in the office). If you are receiving services from a Master Level Counselor or a Registered Mental Health Counselor please rest assure that we continue to follow the state statues and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor is onsite (in the office) at all times.
It is important that our clients are in a secure and confidential space during their sessions. Brevard Counseling, LLC cannot guarantee client(s) confidentiality and privacy and will not be liable, if the client(s) is not located in a secure and confidential space.
